ESG report from Troldtekt: New carbon accounting system, fewer accidents and Danish language training during working hours
Troldtekt A/S has just released its 2024 report on environmental, social and governance (ESG) results. The share of renewable energy and carbon-reduced cement used in the production of acoustic panels both increased. At the same time, new initiatives have helped strengthen safety and the sense of community at the factory.

98.3 per cent renewable energy, a doubling of the share of carbon-reduced cement and work-related accidents down by over a third compared to the previous year. For the 15th consecutive year, Troldtekt A/S has documented its sustainability results – and the 2024 ESG report shows significant progress.
"We are committed to transparency and to making it completely clear how our passion for people and the planet works in practice. We need to improve every year and I am proud that we succeeded again in a number of areas in 2024," says Michael Heeager Nystrup, CEO of Troldtekt A/S.
"The majority of our sales take place in northern Europe, where there is a particularly high focus on the climate footprint of buildings. That is why I am pleased that the proportion of Troldtekt acoustic panels based on carbon-reduced FUTURECEM™ cement doubled in 2024, after also doubling in 2023. We have also introduced a new carbon accounting system, which provides a more detailed and nuanced overview of our carbon footprint. It includes everything from raw material transport to business travel and office operations," he adds.
Here are the highlights from 2024
The doubling of FUTURECEM and the new carbon accounting system are two of the highlights from the 2024 ESG report. In the report, Troldtekt also discusses the following:
- 98.3% renewable energy: In 2024, 98.3 per cent of Troldtekt's energy consumption originated from renewable energy sources (wind power and the company's own biomass boiler).
- Fewer accidents: In 2024, there were 11 work-related accidents at Troldtekt, six of which resulted in lost-time absence. The previous year saw 18 accidents with nine resulting in lost-time absence. Safety measures combined with internal campaigns have resulted in safer behaviour in activities.
- Danish language training for employees: In 2024, a number of employees at the Troldtekt factory in Troldhede attended voluntary Danish language training during working hours. This has helped to strengthen both safety and the sense of community during daily operations.
- Two ISO certifications: Every Troldtekt department documented processes and risks in 2024 in order to prepare the company for two ISO certifications. The two certifications, ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety Management), were officially achieved at the start of 2025.
Part of a global sustainability programme
Troldtekt is part of the Irish group Kingspan, which has operations in over 80 countries. Troldtekt meets the EU requirements for sustainability reporting (CSRD) via Kingspan, but has also chosen to publish a separate report.
"Kingspan has a comprehensive sustainability programme for the period up to 2030, Planet Passionate, which includes all group companies. With our own report, we can provide a more detailed overview of our efforts and results, demonstrating exactly how we help support Planet Passionate," says Michael Heeager Nystrup.
In 2024, Troldtekt was honoured in the best class, Excellence Class, during the ESG Transparency Award organised by the German consultancy firm EUPD Research. This recognition was awarded on the basis of the 2023 ESG report. The new 2024 report will also be submitted for assessment.
