A spacious swimming pool
In a new district of Næstved, the town’s new swimming pool will serve as a social hub for local residents. With approximately 7,000 sqm and 7 pools, there is water for all age groups.

The extensive swimming facility is configured along three assembled building volumes, with the central one being slightly higher. This gives the building a simple architectural design, while its large scale is broken down in an uncomplicated manner. The façade is predominantly made of wood and bronzed metal panels, giving the building an inviting character. The selection of material is repeated indoors, such as the wooden strip cladding on selected wall surfaces.
Large windows open up the swimming pool building into the natural landscape facing west, while flooding the pool area with plenty of natural light. The central space, with its 25-metre pool, diving boards and leisure pool, also houses the swimming pool’s 80-metre water slide. A 50-metre pool for competitive swimming is located in its own section, but with windows from the central space. On the opposite side is a quieter enclosure with a hot water pool for rehabilitation, sauna, steam room and infrared sauna.
Recessed ceiling panels
A swimming pool with a large internal volume and many square metres of tiles and water surface will have a very high noise level without acoustic regulation. GPP Arkitekter has therefore worked on the acoustics by adding Troldtekt panels in natural wood to the ceilings and wooden strips on the walls. Troldtekt panels in the size of 600 x 2,400 mm were mounted directly onto the recessed ceiling panels from Taasinge Elementer.
The large format provides calm surfaces for the wide spaces, complementing their raw character and the scale of the glulam beams. The Troldtekt panels and wooden strips provide the swimming pool space with warm surfaces that, together with an inviting pool design with built-in planters, create an inviting and modern swimming pool environment.
